This is our versión of an “Ingá”, a traditional dance to a fast paced festejo style, which like many of our songs, started to take shape jamming during soundchecks while on tour in Europe. Guayabo is a small rural town next to El Carmen, Chincha,(where the video for Coba Guarango was filmed) that has maintained afroperuvian tradition almost intact through time, and where many of the best afroperuvian percussionists come from. The lyrics describe the festive spirit of the town , particularly during the Yunza, a street carnival celebrating fertility where most of the town becomes one big dance.

Lyrics
rumbo al guayabo,
danza bajo la luna
la penas….al pasado
los muertos... a la tumba
ritmos africanos
salen del corazón
corren por mis venas
al compas del socavón..
vamos repica cajonero
que esta noche festejo
para olvida’ las penas
que suene el golpe a tierra
Al cañaveral
canción de yunza,
“huanchihualó
corta la caña,
lleva el carbón”
“huanchihualito,
huanchihualó
q para amante ,
estoy sólo yo”
Al cañaveral,
me voy al Guayabo
trad
On my way to guayabo, To Dance under the moon
To Leave all trouble behind, To Leave the dead in the grave
African rythms, Come from the heart
Run through my veins, To the beat of the “socavon”
Come on play louder, cajonero
'Cause tonight we celebrate
To forget all sorrow
Lets hear the "golpe tierra"
To the cane fields
Song of the yunza, "Huanchihualo
Cut the cane, carry the coal
Huanchihualito, Huanchihualo
'Cause to love you, there's only me"
Im going to guayabo, To the cane fields

I have to say that this one is one of the finest compilation I've ever seen. The story, the cover, the pictures, the booklet and of course the music! Just magic, like a time machine. fabmeyer
